Grand Caribe’s 2nd Annual Deep Sea Classic Fishing Tournament a Success!

It’s official, the winners have been announced for this year’s second annual Deep-Sea Classic Fishing Tournament!

Grand Caribe along with its generous sponsors hosted the 2nd Annual Deep-Sea Classic Fishing Tournament over the weekend, starting with a briefing on Thursday evening August 9th, followed by the dinner and Calcutta bidding to kick off the event. On Saturday, August 11th, 29 teams set sail on a journey to claim the grand prize of BZ$17,000 plus Calcutta at another BZ$17,280.

The first day was a success with Nuh Worry Bout Nothin bringing in the heaviest dorado of the day weighing in at a whopping 50lbs and a catch and release of a marlin. Both Knotty Pirate and As Your Wish (Tarpon Caye Lodge) also managed to release a marlin. The heaviest tuna at 8lbs was brought in by Fein Lines. The top three boats at the end of day one were – Nuh Worry Bout Nothin, Knotty Pirate and As You Wish.

Day two had just as much excitement with as many as 30 dorados caught and the same top three boats remaining at the end of day two.

The excitement grew even greater as the final day approached, boats were coming in and fish were being weighed. The heaviest wahoo was brought in by female angler Alyssa Arceo, and the heaviest barracuda by Toby of Out on Bail. Knotty Pirate coming in at 2.5 minutes late with a catch and release of a marlin put them in second place.

With over $50,000 in cash and prizes – the winners were selected as follows:

1st Place – Nuh Worry Bout Nothin
2nd Place – Knotty Pirate
3rd Place – As You Wish (Tarpon Caye Lodge)
4th Place – Trophy Hunter
5th Place – Seaductress

Heaviest Wahoo – Alyssa Arceo (Seaductress)
Heaviest Dorado – Chendo Urbina (Nuh Worry Bout Notin)
