Family Vacation Spots: Why You Should Vacation at Grand Caribe Belize

Just this week, The Huffington Post printed a humorous article titled:  Vacation or Trip?  A Helpful Guide for Parents.  The premise?  If you are going on a vacation with children, it is not a get-away from real life at all…it is merely a trip.  A trip includes things like cramped living quarters and passive-aggressive in-laws.

A vacation – tropical weather, relaxation and pina coladas.

We at Grand Caribe Resort Belize proudly invite all families for a VACATION in Belize.   And here is why we think a get-away to Belize right now is the perfect summer vacation for both parents and kids.

Please.  Hear us out.

1. Snorkeling

Snorkeling in Belize is absolutely awesome.  The colors of the corals and the fish and the thousands of shades of blue of the water are just perfect.   The water is clear and relatively shallow all the way out to the barrier reef.   Most snorkel tours invite young children to go along.  (We can help you find the right trip.)

And kids as young as one or two will love just being on the boat (with mom or dad) and watching the sharks and stingrays from there.

Kids who feel comfortable in the water, can float along next to their parents in a life jacket and snorkel mask and enjoy it all.  Hol-Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley are a TOTAL must-do.  But snorkeling off the Grand Caribe Dock is a great way to practice.

2. Fishing off the Dock

The picture says it all.  Grab a small rod in town or fish with a hand-line like many of the local kids do.  Fish love to hide under the docks…

3. Playing at the Beach

Kids of all ages love to play in the sand – we recently hosted our first Sand Castle competition at Grand Caribe – and it was a blast.

Looking for shells and wild-life, Belize has plenty.

Whether racing hermit crabs during the day…

…or spotting stranger creatures at night.  Wading in the sea can keep kids busy for hours, if not days.

4. OUR POOLS

At Grand Caribe, we have a number of beautiful pools.  Smaller shallow ones that make it easy to keep an eye on the kids and the larger one with the swim-up bar and a bridge.  Kids love it.

5. Bike Riding

Riding on the newly paved road or along the beach on Ambergris Caye is just fun.  It’s a great way to pop into town for an ice cream cone or just take a tour of the area.

6. A Nighttime Crocodile Tour

Kids of all ages will LOVE this adventurous and educational trip.  Head out to the lagoon side of the island at sunset to try to find crocodiles.

7. Sailing

Everyone loves sailing and take out a Hobie Cat or try an all-day sail that includes snorkeling and a stop in Caye Caulker (our neighboring island) for lunch.

Sailing on a large catamaran with comfy bean bags, plenty of food, drinks, sun & shade and a proper bathroom, will keep everyone happy.

8. Parasailing

Maybe not your first thought when you think kids…but once in the harness, you practically float in the sky.  Our local company can seat an adult in the middle…and a child on each side.  And then you just enjoy the view.

Can you spot the reef?

9. Belize Zoo

The Belize Zoo is one of the best in the world. All animals of Belize – from jaguars…

…to spider and howler monkeys to the strangely beautiful national animal of Belize, the tapir.

Fuego, the ambassador tapir at the Belize Zoo, on his first birthday.

It’s small enough to be manageable for smaller children and there are enough animals to keep everyone very happy on this day trip.

I could go on!  There are trips to the Maya sites, zip lining and cave tubing tours and more.  Check out our tour pages for more.

A vacation.  With kids.  A proper vacation with fun for all.

With one to three room (and bathroom) units available and a full kitchen, we know we can make your “trip” a low stress VACATION.  Everyone will be comfortable and relaxed…

And dreaming of their next trip to Belize and Grand Caribe.
