Our Ultra Clean Commitment to Your Health and Safety

The health and safety of our Team Members, our guests, and our community is our top priority. Grand Caribe Belize Ultra Clean commitment is designed to enhance safety and minimize risk for our guests and team members. It ensures the hygiene and sanitation practices of the resort meet or exceed regulatory requirements and the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and Local Authorities. It includes new protocols that meet or exceed our already rigorous standards.

Our Grand Caribe Belize Clean Protocols

To minimize risk and enhance safety for guests and Team Members, we use eco-friendly disinfectant products that have been pre-approved and certified by The Cleaning Depot, for use against emerging viruses and bacteria. We have increased our routine environmental cleaning and adhere to the recommendations outlined in the Ministry of Health regarding cleaning and disinfectants. Disinfectants are applied during the cleaning of our guest units, public spaces, meeting rooms, and other “high-touch” areas.

Grand Caribe Belize Resort has a longstanding commitment to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety for our guests and team members. Now more than ever, we continue this commitment as the world faces this public health crisis. The following guidelines represent best practices for the tourism industry, in accordance with The Ministry of health, CDC and OSHA guidelines, during the re-opening phase of the economy. It is anticipated that these guidelines and protocols will evolve based on the recommendations of public health authorities and must be done in compliance with the laws of Belize and advisories from the Ministry of Health. This protocol provides responsible measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, whilst continuing to offer a comforting and enjoyable experience for our Guests.

BROAD SPECTRUM
SANITATION


The frequency of cleaning and sanitizing has been increased in all public spaces with an emphasis on frequent high- touch surfaces including, but not limited to, front desk check-in counters, elevators, and elevator buttons, door handles, public bathrooms, room keys and locks, and stair handrails, gym equipment, dining surfaces, and seating areas. All equipment for Guests use is constantly sanitized, as well as all vehicles for transfer services. In the Resort hand sanitizers, masks and disposable gloves will always be at your disposal.

LOCATIONS


We are grateful for the luxury of space at Grand Caribe. The family friendly surroundings feature 800 feet of beautiful, sandy beach. Our pier features a gazebo and lounging deck with easy access for a dip in the sea. We have six swimming pools, 2 hot tubs and comfy hammocks; ideal for reading, listening to music or taking an afternoon nap.

ARRIVAL AND
RESORT SERVICES


At arrival, our Staff will take a Non-invasive temperature check .Those with a temperature at or over 100.4°F (38°C) will be subject to secondary screening. To protect everybody’s safety, if your temperature is more than/equals 37,5° or 100.4 F, the resort may not be accessed. The resort has a team of certified Emergency Medical Technicians at the Belize Medical Associates Clinic located onsite who are available at any time.

DISTANCING IN
WIDE SPACES


The luxury of Grand Caribe large 1000 sq ft to 4000 sq ft Suites and spacious SPA makes it easier to keep distancing without too much effort. To ensure the widest individual space possible, our Resorts will operate initially with a limited number of Suites.

RESTAURANT/POOL BAR


The tables will be laid out to guarantee wide personal space. All buffets have been replaced with à la carte service and menus will be accessible on your mobile through a QR Code. In addition, room service menus have been expanded to allow you to enjoy your meal in the privacy of your Suite.

SPA/GYM AND
COMMUNAL AREAS


To avoid any possible gatherings within the communal areas (Spa, Pools, Relax and Fitness Areas), access is limited to a reduced number of Guests and this is constantly monitored by our Staff. All gym equipment is sanitized after use and reservations for use is recommended. All therapists wear personal protective equipment and treatment rooms are fully sanitized after each treatment.

All Staff temperature is checked daily and the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory. Each member participated to specific training sessions related to the new health measures to guarantee an updated specific knowledge for Guests and colleagues.

COVID 19 - SPECIFIC INITIATIVES

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Guests will be provided at check-in with individual face masks and sanitizers for use during their visit to the resort.

Emergency Medical Technicians

Grand Caribe Belize Resort has partnered with The Belize Medical Associates team (onsite), who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Front Desk and Concierge

Agents’ workstation will be positioned to ensure separation between employees whenever possible. Counter surfaces, computers, equipment will be sanitized after every shift. All guest touchpoints, including Credit Card Devices, pens, registration countertops, room keys, will be sanitized after each transaction.

Temperature Checks

Non-invasive Guests’ and employees’ temperature checks will be done at check-in (guest) and the clock-in area (employees). Those with a temperature at or over 100.4°F (38°C) will be subject to secondary screening. Those confirmed to have a temperature at or over 100.4°F (38°C) will undergo a further medical assessment and be directed to appropriate medical care.

Guest Rooms

Industry-leading cleaning and sanitizing protocols are used to clean guest rooms. Particular attention is paid to high-touch items – including television remote controls, toilet seats and handles, door and furniture handle, water faucet handles, nightstands, telephones, light switches, temperature control panels, alarm clocks, luggage racks, and flooring. All bed linen, personal laundry will be changed daily and continue to be washed at a high temperature and in accordance with guidelines. Dirty linen will be bagged in the guest room to eliminate excess contact while being transported to the laundry facility.

Public Spaces and Communal Areas

The frequency of cleaning and sanitizing has been increased in all public spaces with an emphasis on frequent high- touch surfaces including, but not limited to, front desk check-in counters, elevators, and elevator buttons, door handles, public bathrooms, room keys and locks, and stair handrails, gym equipment, dining surfaces, and seating areas. In addition, swimming pool surfaces are treated with an anti-viral/anti-bacterial treatment daily. Front-of-house restrooms are sanitized at least once an hour, which includes wiping down counters and stalls. Meeting and convention spaces, restaurants and bars, each have area-specific cleaning guidelines and protocols that meet or exceed all local or national authority recommendations.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at key guest and employee contact areas such as reception areas, hotel lobby, restaurant entrances, conference spaces, elevator landings, pools, salons, and exercise areas.

Guest Elevators

An employee will be present to sanitize the button panels at regular intervals. The primary elevator will be staffed during peak hours to provide assistance and additional sanitation. No more than four guests will be permitted per lift.

Conference Services

Conference room doors, tables, chairs, light switches, and other equipment will be sanitized after each group use. The meeting room will be arranged to allow for appropriate distancing between every table and chair.

SPA & SALON

Spa and salon will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected prior to opening. All surfaces, tools, equipment, workstations, treatment rooms, restrooms, and linens will be disinfected.

Restaurants and Pool Bar

Restaurants and bars will reduce seating capacities to allow for a minimum of six feet between each seated group/party of guests.

Pools

Chaise lounge chairs will be sanitized after each use and will be set with appropriate physical distancing.

Shared Equipment

Shared tools and equipment will be sanitized before, during, and after each shift or anytime the equipment is transferred to a new employee. This includes radios, computers, and other communication devices, payment terminals, engineering tools, safety buttons, folios, cleaning equipment, keys, time clocks, and all other direct contact items used throughout the resort.

Back of the House

The frequency of cleaning and sanitizing will also increase in high traffic back of house areas with an emphasis on the employee dining rooms, employee entrances, employee restrooms, offices, kitchens. Physical distancing protocols will be used in the employee dining rooms, shared office spaces, and other high-density areas in order to ensure appropriate distancing between employees.

Room Recovery Protocol

In the event of a presumptive case of COVID-19, the guest’s room will be removed from service and quarantined. The guest room will not be returned to service until the case has been confirmed or cleared. In the event of a positive case, the room will only be returned to service after undergoing an enhanced sanitization protocol by a licensed third-party expert and approval by the Ministry of Health.

Other Covid-19 Specific initiatives

We have been asked about our specific procedures should we be alerted to a case of COVID-19 at our resort.

Case Notification

Grand Caribe Belize Resort has a team of certified Emergency Medical Technicians at the Belize Medical Associates available 24 hours a day. If we are alerted to a suspected case of COVID-19 at the resort, the guest will be directed toward appropriate medical care through our EMTs, who follow the direction of local health authorities. We will conduct an additional cleaning and disinfecting protocol of areas that the guest has been during their visit.

Guest Suite Recovery Protocol

In the event of a guest with a confirmed case of COVID-19, their guest unit/room will be removed from service to undergo a specific cleaning protocol by a licensed third-party expert. The guest room will not be returned to service until the room is deemed safe by the third-party and consistent with the guidance of local health authorities. Similar recovery protocols address Team Member offices and work areas.

COVID-19 Training

All employees have received training on COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols from the Ministry of Health, including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Public Area Department, Resort Operations, and Security.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Appropriate PPE will be provided to and worn by all Team Members based on their role and responsibilities and in adherence to national or local regulations and guidance. Gloves will be provided to employees whose duties require them, including housekeeping and public area attendants and security officers in direct contact with guests. Mandatory additional training on the use and disposal of all PPE will be provided.

We will continue to refine and update the program as our experts provide us with more advice. Our procedures are extensive and not applicable to all resorts in our industry.
